For months that FWD and SCB were in an exclusive negotiation about this acquisition. Now, the announcement could be as early as the morning of Monday, July 1, 2019. According to an estimation, SCBLIFE insurance unit could be valued at about $3 billion or approximately THB 92 billion. The deal would be the biggest acquisition of an insurer in Southeast Asia.

Trade Policy and Strategy Office Ministry of Commerce (TPSO) has reported the number of Thailand international trade in May 2019. In May 2019, a total value of Thailand’s exports was USD21.017.9, shrunk by 5.79% which is slightly higher than the expected (5%) and the imports value was USD20,836.4, shrunk by 0.64%, causing USD 181.5 million of trade surplus.
